“I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139:14)

At some point in your life, you will experience the feeling of being alone or feel lonely. But when I hear someone say, “I don’t like to be alone” it takes on a whole new meaning. What you are really saying is, “I don’t like myself.” Therefore, you rely on a mate or another to make you feel fulfilled or complete. When you rely on others to make you happy or even define you, then you miss out on who God created you to be. Of course, no one likes to be alone all the time. However, spending time with yourself doesn’t constitute loneliness. Nor does being single! In fact, being single is a pretty good time to really get to know and love yourself. If you don’t love yourself, then you cannot expect a mate to love you either. Being with another tend to take the focus off of you, so you hide behind a relationship in effort to avoid what you don’t like about yourself. Just how well do you know yourself? Better than you let on...
